I haven't updated for awhile...sorry about that!!  I did update the picture pages a couple of times! Well, the NEWEST  PICTURES  can be found by clicking here, in case you haven't seen them yet!

I haven't heard much from Kimmie and Mary lately...they've been busy re-adjusting to "life on the outside" and visiting friends, going to outpatient rehab, etc... They did call me on Wednesday of this week - Kimmie wanted to tell me that SHE DROVE her truck around the block!!!! She made it sound like it was a good thing, but no big deal...Mary, on the other hand, was tickled to death. She said that Kimmie drove quite a good ways down the road, used her turn signals without being told, went around the block, found her way back home and parked. That is great news!  That is one more BIG step on the road back to independence.

She sounds wonderful now. Her speech is a lot less slurred...and she now has the old, familiar tone to her voice...in other words, she sounds like herself again :):):)  Apparently, her short term memory is improving slowly, but surely. She works on it a lot...as well as reading out loud a lot in order to help her speak better. She has most definitely gotten her old sense of humor back intact!! *laughs* When Mary and I were on the phone Wednesday, Kimmie was cracking corny jokes in the background.

She is walking completely on her own now. They had rented the wheelchair and walker for 6 months when they left the rehab center...Kimmie returned them both a week ago. She said she didn't even want them in the house. :)  She is managing stairs even...and is helping Mary cook in the kitchen. It shouldn't be too long until she's capable of independence. I am still in awe of her and the rapid recovery she is making. It's a sad fact that most people with Kimmie's type of injury don't do this well...not only not this fast, but this far at all.

We have been truly blessed. She has been truly blessed. I wish for all of you reading this the same type of blessings for you and your loved ones. Our hearts are with you...and our prayers, too.

Please continue praying for Kimmie's complete recovery...the Drs said "it would take a miracle"...our miracle has happened!!
